Road Bike Setup
A note to lighten up my road bike with durable, lightweight, and high quality components towards sub 6kg.
Trade Info: I have several stuffs that are not to my taste. Please e-mail y.naoki (Gmail) if you're interested.
- Syntace Racelite carbon bar 44cm (O-O): 177g, nearly new in very good condition. I'm asking a carbon bar in size 42 (O-O) or less and similar weight (~180g or less).
- Controltech Race Light skewers: 28g for front and rear, Ti rods with Sc ends in good condition. I'm asking a Heylight Ti- skewers.
The first road bike I bought from Nalsima Frend in Apr. '05. The component list is shown (italics indicate the actual weight) with the lightest configuration currently available. I'm pleased with the components in bold fonts.
Note on the lightest configuration
There is no consensus on what road bikes should be, and I assume they should be equipped with 700c wheels, 2/3X10s gears, drop bars, and front/rear brakes. Brent's frame (48cm) is equipped with an extended seatmast, molded carbon front derailleur mount and downtube shifter mounts. The weights of a chain and spokes are estimated by a simple math. Please kindly e-mail y.naoki (Gmail) if you find obsolete/update.
Build Policy
A comfy, durable, and light bike for everyday ride, with a plain/classic look & feel. GIANT frameset is one of the best BANG for the BUCK. I upgrade the inferior parts tie-in with the frameset in a cost-effective order, without sacrificing the comfort and durability.
I'm reluctant to adopt things unsuitable for daily ride: skewers w/ Al rods, CF rings, Al cogs, track tubies <150g, CF-railed saddles <60g, wheels <1kg (or rims <250g).
