This thesis involves an LTAG-to-HPSG
conversion (published as a journal titled `Grammar Conversion
from LTAG to HPSG') and its application to parsing comparison
(published as a journal titled `Parsing Comparison across Grammar
Formalisms using Strongly Equivalent Grammars') as Part I, and a
filtering method for subcategorization acquisition (published as
a paper titled 'Improving the Accuracy of Subcategorizations Acquired
from Corpora') and a PLSA-based probabilistic subcategorization
lexicon (published as a paper titled `Towards Accurate
Probabilistic Lexicons for Lexicalized Grammars') as Part II. The part
related to grammar conversion is further elaborated through comparison
to related research.
